100+ Companies Sign EU AI Pact Pledge

The European Commission has announced that over hundred companies including Google,
Amazon, Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft, have voluntarily signed a pledge in support of the
principles of the AI Act. The pledges represent support for 3 key areas of the AI Act including:
● AI governance strategy to foster the uptake of AI in the organisation and work towards
future compliance with the AI Act.
● High-risk AI systems mapping: Identifying AI systems likely to be categorised as high-
risk under the AI Act
● Promoting AI literacy and awareness among staff, ensuring ethical and responsible AI
development.

Early signatories of the pledge represent a cross section of industries including telecom,
healthcare, banking and automotive with a range of company types from European SMEs up to
multinational corporations.
The AI Act came into force earlier this year (August) and is built around two key pillars:
● Pillar I acts as a gateway to engage the AI Pact network (those organisations that have
expressed an interest in the Pact), encourages the exchange of best practices, and
provides with practical information on the AI Act implementation process;
● Pillar II encourages AI system providers and deployers to prepare early and take actions
towards compliance with requirements and obligations set out in the legislation.
