topic:
Digital Product Passports as enabling driver for sustainable transformation
- For an effective sustainable transformation, no single company can work in isolation: a supply chain involvement is required.
- The sustainability profile of any product heavily depends both on the sustainability characteristics of its raw materials and its further use along the value chain.
- All this needs to be backed up with harmonized data: digital product passports (DPPs) will represent the digital infrastructure backbone to support such transformation.
- DPPs will enable a standardized communication of verifiable sustainability claims, make green differentiation tangible and credible, and propel circular economy, empowering consumers and B2B procurement organizations alike.
- DPPs are therefore a centerpiece of green Regulations an object of several voluntary initiatives and projects.
- The keynote will exemplify the structuring of an harmonized DPP system, from the experience of a the public funded consortium initiative “Chem-X”
