With nearly €2 billion in revenue and around 9,500 employees, the company produces over 42,000 different water pump-related products. Weber points out that inefficient pumps are a major issue across the industry—modernizing them could unlock massive energy savings.
He connects global megatrends like urbanization, energy scarcity, and climate change to Wilo’s mission, explaining that the company has made sustainability its core corporate strategy. Wilo is committed to reducing emissions and enabling people around the world to live in more sustainable environments.
Weber showcases smart urban solutions, including water management systems in India and energy-efficient pump installations in European cities. He also illustrates how AI and digitalization are boosting operational efficiency. Notably, he shares that 10–15% of global energy consumption is related to pumps, with much of it wasted due to outdated systems—a major opportunity for impact.

Georg Weber was appointed in 2017 to the Executive Board of Wilo SE and has been CTO & Member of the Executive Board since then. He is responsible for R&D, Operations, Quality, Purchasing & Supply Chain, Sustainability, the global Location Management and the H2 activities of the Wilo Group.
At his former employer – the Philips Group he held various leading positions in Operations, Supply Chain Management and Product Development in Europe and Asia.
His goal is to positively contribute to address the global challenges of our time with sustainable technologies and strong partnerships.
