topic:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can play a crucial role in the transition to a Circular Economy (CE). My talk explores the potential and challenges of AI applications across the entire value chain—from product design and manufacturing to usage, return, and recycling. Through practical examples, I will demonstrate how AI can optimize resource efficiency, minimize waste, and enable circular business models. At the same time, I will address ecological and societal risks, such as rebound effects and AI’s own resource consumption. To maximize its benefits, AI must be integrated into a holistic sustainability strategy, ensuring it truly supports circularity.
